Organised by the clubs of Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield, supporters chose between two routes – 11 miles and 6.5 miles – taking in attractive countryside and woodlands around the town as they went.

There was also a 3km walk for accompanied youngsters and people with disabilities.

Walk patron and rock star Marty Wilde, from Tewin, officially started the event, which raised money for Herts Action on Disability (HAD), Carers in Herts, Digswell Riding for the Disabled, and Kimpton Blue Cross.

Numerous runners also supported WGC-based charity Isabel Hospice and another group fundraised for St Andrews Care Home.
