TELEVISION personality Gethin Jones launched The Royal British Legion’s 2011 Poppy Appeal today (Thursday) as the UK’s leading Armed Forces charity announced a £40 million fundraising goal in its most ambitious campaign ever.

Where to buy your poppy?

Poppies will be available from retail outlets and business premises within the WGC area from Saturday, October 29.

Manned displays will be at The Howard Centre, Waitrose, John Lewis and Morrisons.

To mark its 90th anniversary year, the Legion launched its Poppy Appeal under the slogan of standing “shoulder to shoulder with all who serve.”

The theme is backed by an online campaign and a charity single recorded by Robin Gibb and The Soldiers.

And today the WHT is calling on Welwyn Hatfield residents to tell us who they are remembering this Remembrance Sunday.

Did you serve in any war past or present and remember fallen comrades?

Were you the one at home while family members went off to fight?

When you standstill on Remembrance Sunday, what are you thinking about?

Contact us by writing to WHT memories, 31a Howardsgate, WGC, AL8 6AP or email news@whtimes.co.uk or call 01707 384180.
