Five pharmacies across Welwyn Hatfield will be open on New Year's Day, despite the bank holiday.

According to the East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, people needing medication can go Jhoots in Bradmore Green, Hatfield (noon to 2pm), or in the town centre, Asda (10am to 6pm) and Boots (10am to 4pm).

People in Welwyn Garden City can visit Sainsbury’s in Church Road (10am to 5pm), or Boots in the Howard Centre (11am to 5pm).

Dr Hari Pathmanathan said: “If you or someone you care for is very unwell over the holidays, don’t put off getting medical help.

“NHS 111, hospitals, pharmacies, minor injuries units and our Urgent Care Centre are all available and can help you to get the right treatment.

“If you’re worried about wasting a doctor’s time, ring NHS 111 free at any time of the day or night for advice on where to go.”

Health chiefs also advise people in need to call the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust Mental Health Helpline, 01438 843322.

between 5pm to 8am, or The Samaritans at any time on 08457 909090.
