Welwyn Hatfield and Hertsmere house prices stagnant in 2018 as growth slows nationally

Average house prices in Welwyn Hatfield and Hertsmere went backwards in 2018, amid England’s slowest annual growth in more than five years.

The latest Land Registry figures reveal the average property is worth £388,440 in Welwyn Hatfield, after a decrease of 0.3 per cent in the year to December.

In Hertsmere, the annual price fell 2.3 per cent (almost £11,000) to £457,963.

The average house price for England is £247,886 after rising 2.3 per cent in 2018, which was the lowest annual growth since June 2013.

Flats and maisonettes lost the most value in Welwyn Hatfield with a yearly decrease of 2.5 per cent to £237,600.

The average price for detached houses grew 1.5 per cent to £816,133 in 2018.

All property types in Hertsmere fell slightly in value last year.

Flats and maisonettes had the biggest drop of 4.12 per cent to £305,039.
