Firefighters from Welwyn, Welwyn Garden City and an animal rescue unit from Hatfield came to the aid of a horse after it got stuck in a swimming pool.

The equine was stuck in a pool in Codicote.

Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 6.15pm on Friday to help the animal out.

In a separate incident on Friday afternoon, firefighters tackled a blaze in the open in College Way, Welwyn Garden City.

This morning, at 5.22am, firefighters were called to a fire in Comet Way, Hatfield.

When they got there, they found it was controlled burning.
