Welwyn Hatfield Council’s member for planning, housing and community has given her thoughts after negative feedback on the Local Plan consultation.

Cllr Mandy Perkins said: “As with previous rounds of consultation, we are considering thousands of responses, and I’d once again like to thank local people for their time and effort to help us get this far.

“It is often the case with all consultations that the motivation to respond comes from putting forward an alternative view, and it is no easy task to balance the number, strength and diversity of opinion on issues that will affect the quality of life for everyone living and working here for years to come.

“Even though the decisions so far have been difficult, we have done everything we can to develop a sound plan built on community involvement, cooperation with neighbouring authorities, robust evidence and national policy.

“Members of the Cabinet Housing and Planning Panel will decide what changes to recommend on March 16, before Cabinet and Full Council are asked to approve the plan for submission to the inspector.”
