Welwyn Hatfield residents are being encouraged to cycle or swim the circumference of the world as part of a week-long health drive.

As part of Hertfordshire’s Year of Physical Activity, the borough council has organised the event where participants will collectively cycle or swim 25,000 miles to raise money for Sport Relief.

It will take place between Monday, March 19 and the following Friday, in The Howard Centre between 10am and 2.30pm daily.

There will also be an event in The Galleria on Saturday, March 24, between 10am and 5pm.

There will be two bikes at The Howard Centre and three at The Galleria.

Attendees will also be able to take part in activities including face painting, curling, Wii Sports, and boccia at The Galleria. Each session is free to attend, with any voluntary donations going to Sport Relief. All distances cycled will be tracked.

Councillor Bernard Sarson said: “Hertfordshire’s Year of Physical Activity is about making the county more active, and we’re hoping to get as many Welwyn Hatfield residents together as possible to cycle or swim around the world and raise money for Sport Relief.”
