Welwyn Hatfield Council has revealed the latest satisfaction figures for its waste contractor Serco.

A council report showed that according to Serco’s statistics, acquired through an independent polling company, residents’ satisfaction was 73.8 per cent for Q3 (October to December 2016), and 72.6 per cent for Q4 (January to March 2017).

The report added: “In Q3, the recycling rate stayed the same at 48.5 per cent. In Q4, the recycling rate was just over 45 per cent. This is mainly due to a seasonal reduction in the composting rate.

“Satisfaction of the recycling service has increased to 79.6 per cent and 79.7 per cent in Q3 and Q4 respectively.

“The total number of missed bins has decreased considerably in Q3 and Q4 2016/17. The number of customer reported missed bins has also decreased.”

Annual satisfaction was 74.5 per cent across all services, according to the report.
