Welwyn Hatfield Council reveals Splashlands project spending

Welwyn Hatfield Council has revealed how much money it has spent on plans to develop a wet play scheme at the former Splashlands site.
Since 2007, the local authority has splashed around £55k investigating the scheme – which went on consultancy support to develop a business case, site plans and on-site surveys.
A borough council spokeswoman said: “Any project on this scale requires detailed work from the outset to ensure we are putting forward the best option for local people.
“As it stands, exciting new proposals are on the table which are still at a commercially sensitive stage. If and when further progress is made, we look forward to sharing them more widely soon.”
It comes after the council revealed earlier this month that despite remaining committed to the project, there will be no splash park installed at Stanborough Park this summer.
However, the item is listed for discussion at an upcoming council meeting on Tuesday, June 5.
