This qualification enables residents and businesses to gain knowledge and understanding of the relationship between diet and health and wellbeing.

It also raises the matter of food labelling and making informed choices about what to eat.

The interactive session includes videos, group work activities and handouts.

Delegates will explore sugar content in meals and alcohol units consumed.

A short test enables them to gain an accredited qualification.

Useful for anybody wanting to enhance their nutrition knowledge, the course would also benefit people working in the catering, hospitality, care or leisure industries.

The training is relevant for other health professionals.

Executive member for public health, Councillor Fiona Thomson said: “With so much information in the media about diet, and what’s healthy and what’s not, this course helps navigate through it all and identify genuine sources of reliable food health advice. I’ve taken part in the inaugural course myself – which everyone passed - and I’d urge both businesses and residents to sign up. I believe it will prove so useful in many ways.”

Bookings are being taken for Thursday, January 10, Thursday, March 14 and Thursday May 9 2019.

To make a booking contact the council on 01707 357242.
