WELWYN Hatfield Council has been awarded the Charter for Elected Member Development.
The prestigious honour, which lasts for three years, is a national standard developed by the East of England Local Government Association.
Councillors had to undergo a rigorous assessment of their training and development to ensure they could meet the needs of the community.
Council chief executive Michel Saminaden said: “We’re delighted with this achievement, because it recognises that our councillors believe in and participate in their own development, which can only be a good thing for the community.”
He added: “I’d like to thank members for their efforts in achieving this status for the council.”
