TORY candidate Grant Shapps joined wife Belinda at their local polling station in Brookmans Park this morning to have their say in the General Election.

The Conservative man is one of the six candidates vying for votes in Welwyn Hatfield.

He, Liberal Democrat Paul Zukowskyj who lives in Hatfield, and WGC residents Green Jill Weston and independent Nigel Parker can all cast their ballot for the Welwyn Hatfield seat.

Mr Shapps told the WHT he planned to visit all 50 polling stations in Welwyn Hatfield today, he had so far managed two.

He said: “Election day is always a bit odd for candidates, there’s really little more that can be done except to wait.”

Among the 50 polling stations are one in a caravan in the Ayots and another in a garage.
