A referendum on whether Britain leaves the European Union will take place on June 23

The Welwyn Hatfield Chamber of Commerce chairman has said Britain should leave the European Union following the date for a referendum being set last weekend.

Prime Minister David Cameron announced the vote to determine Britain’s membership will take place on June 23, and WHCC chairman Nick Brown has since told the Welwyn Hatfield Times he will vote to leave.

The business mogul said: “Europe will maintain the status quo, which is spending lots of money on start-ups, looking after the big companies and taxing the ones in the middle.”

However borough councillor Michal Siewniak, who was born in Poland and moved to Britain in 2005, said Britain should “definitely remain in the EU” and that leaving would be “a big gamble”.
