THE new mayor for Welwyn Hatfield has been chosen.
At last night's (Monday) annual meeting of Welwyn Hatfield Council, Kim Langley was appointed successor to Mick Long for 2009/10, with Howard Morgan being named deputy mayor.
Cllr Langley said :"I want to build on all the hard work done by previous mayors."
She added her chosen charities of the year would be the Willow Foundation, based in Old Hatfield, and the Welwyn Hatfield Women's Refuge.
"Both (charities) are local, and local charities are a priority of mine," she said of her decision.
Cllr Long, outgoing mayor, said he was looking forward to a holiday, having spent the last three years in mayoral roles.
