Welwyn Hatfield and Hertsmere to get new LED street lights

Welwyn Hatfield and Hertsmere boroughs will see street lights changed for LED lights next year.
Hertfordshire County Council is currently upgrading lights on Watford’s B, C and unclassified (residential) roads and footpaths to LED lights, between now and February 2016.
This follows a recent upgrade of more than 12,600 streetlights on all A-roads across the county.
Like Watford, Welwyn Hatfield is due to have its lights changed in October next year and Hertsmere is due for LED lights sometime between October 2016 to January 2017.
LEDs (light emitting diodes) not only use much less energy but also emit less CO2 than conventional lamps, helping to cut the county council’s carbon tax commitment.
