GIRL rugby players from a WGC club are officially the best in the country in their age group.
Welwyn Warriors Under-15s defeated Nottinghamshire outfit Paviors in the RFUW National Cup Final 5-3 at Lichfield RFC.
Tight-head prop Charlie Faloona barged her way over for Welwyn's winning try.
Warriors U15 head coach Greg Maxwell was delighted after the Hobbs Way club's triumph on Sunday.
He said: "Thirteen of the team played today but all 20 players in the squad played in the earlier rounds, so this really was a total squad effort.
"The final was so tense; I now need a lie down."
This was second time lucky for Welwyn as last season the club's other girls' team, the Under-18s, had reached their respective final, but lost by two points to Worcester.
