A DUBLINER celebrated her 100th birthday with two parties, surrounded by family and friends.

Kay Doran lived in Dublin city centre for 50 years before she moved with her family to Hertfordshire.

The great-grandmother has spent the last 25 years in a retirement apartment at Barnside Court, WGC.

Kay, who was one of five children, married her late husband Tony and had three children, sons Brian and Gerry and daughter Frances.

Brian told the WHT his mum partied at Barnside Court, before a second event at Sopwell House Hotel where she was sent video messages from relations in Canada and America.

He said: “She is quite a character. She always looks forward and she’s in particularly good health.

“She is independently minded and an optimistic person, and that’s what has got her this far.

“It’s remarkable, very few people make it to 100 and fewer still in such good health as she is.”
