A MEETING which featured delegates from garden cities across Europe has taken place in WGC.

The event, which was held at Campus West, was organised jointly by Welwyn Garden Heritage Trust and Plaine Commune, a French council which is responsible for the garden city of Stains near Paris.

The delegates discussed ways in which such communities could work together and it is hoped that funding can be secured from the European Union to help promote the ideals and design concepts of European garden cities.

Borough councillor Tony Skottowe, the co-founder of Welwyn Garden Heritage Trust, said: "It was a truly inspirational meeting with people who all share the same excitement about how the garden city ideas can be applied to solve problems now.
