A train has derailed at Welwyn Garden City


Fewer trains are running this morning following a derailment at Welwyn Garden City.

Great Northern states online: “Train services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

“Owing to a non-passenger low speed derailment at Welwyn Garden City, a reduced number of lines are available for other trains to operate on.

“Our engineers are assisting the train to enable it to move.

“Whilst this is ongoing, there will be some cancellations and delays. Buses will be in operation from 6am to assist with cancellations.

“This disruption is expected to continue for the rest of the day.

“We are sorry for the problems this disruption will cause you.”

Replacement road transport services are conveying passengers from Welwyn Garden City in both directions until further notice. Buses will run from 6am between Welwyn Garden City all stations to New southgate and onto Arnos Grove tube station.

Abellio Greater Anglia is conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice. Arrangements have been made for Govia Thameslink Railway rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.

Virgin Trains East Coast are conveying passengers between London Kings Cross and Stevenage in both directions until further notice.
