The new post office is set to open within McColls at 43 Howardsgate this Friday at 1pm.

There are two open-plan post office counters within the store and these will be open throughout McColls’ opening hours, which are Monday to Saturday 6am to 8pm and 7am to 8pm on Sunday.

Michael Brennan, post office area manager, said: “We have been working hard to try to restore post office services to central Welwyn Garden City as quickly as possible as the previous branch closed at short notice for reasons beyond our control.

“The community will join us in welcoming the reopening of the branch.”

The post office will be open an extra 45.5 hours a week compared to the previous branch, which had been based at 17-19 Howardsgate and closed suddenly in October last year.
