Welwyn Garden City theatre reveals its plans

Welwyn Garden City’s popular Barn Theatre has asked for official permission for major refurbishment work.
Although the theatre group has submitted three planing applications to the borough council, chairman Nigel Rive told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that only the refurbishment of the main audtorium was likely to start this year.
Thanks to a major fundraising drive, the group hopes to replace all the seating over the summer, providing its application is granted.
Mr Rive said: “This is going to reduce capacity slightly, but make it more comfortable.”
The other two applications, for a slight structural alteration and refurbishment of the foyer toilets, relate to work planned in future years.
