Women are feeling "creeped out" after a man appeared to be filming women's feet in a Welwyn Garden City supermarket this afternoon.

Leeann Doherty, of Welwyn Garden City, was shopping in Sainsbury’s at around 3pm when she encountered the “weirdest experience” of her life.

She went upstairs to the clothing and shoes section and came across a man asking women to try on sandals so he could see if his niece would like them.

Leeann said: “He was already talking to another lady when I walked past and he was asking her if she thought his niece would like them.

“When I walked back past they were still there and she had one sandal on and it appeared he was face timing someone to ask if they liked them.”

Leeann carried on with her shopping and could overhear the women trying to awkwardly get away.

He then approached Leeann and made small talk with her and joked that people tell him he has a foot fetish.

She said: “He was clearly on something.”

The man tried showing Leeann a picture on his phone of his toilet, but when he unlocked his phone there was a video playing of the previous woman trying the sandals on.

Leeann, who wanted to warn other women to avoid him, added: “He then just laughed and asked me to try the sandals on so I told him I wasn’t stupid.

“There was no way I was putting them on for him.

“He clearly has a foot fetish.”

She made her excuses to get away and went straight to Sainsbury’s customer service desk and reported the incident as she couldn’t find a security guard.

A Sainsbury’s spokeswoman said: “The store is investigating this complaint.

“If the customer also wishes to report this to the police we will support their investigation in any way we can.”
