A Welwyn Garden City school student has organised a team 24-hour assault on three of Britain’s highest mountains.

Charlotte Firmin, 17, of Wren Wood, has inspired a six-strong squad to attempt Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales on May 28.

The marathon climb, a total ascent of 3,000 metres, will raise sponsorship for Geat Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

She told the WHT: “GOSH is an amazing charity. They do such amazing work and I know some family friends who have been treated there. Some of the children are so inspirational and I really feel close with this cause.”

The team includes her father Sam, two scouts and two teachers at Sir Frederic Osborn School, where she is studying A-levels.

They hope readers will support them at https://www.justgiving.com/3peakschallenge-2015.
