The Welwyn Garden City Centenary Foundation is encouraging local sports clubs to attend a meeting to help shape a sporting celebration.

The voluntary group – set up to help organise the town’s 100th anniversary in 2020 – will hold the get-together on Thursday, March 23, at 7.30pm in the Gosling Sports Park.

WGCCF wants sports clubs to help mould the event’s sporting celebration.

The meeting will be chaired by Joe Rahm, regional manager of Better Leisure, and will also involve Kinetic Cycles manager Emma Ramsdale sharing her experiences of putting on the Petit Tour cycle event last summer.

Graeme Bell of the Centenary Foundation will also explain how the sporting event will fit with the programme for 2020.

Attendance is by invitation only and is limited to three members of any sports club in the town.
