A Welwyn Garden City site manager has scooped a national award recognising his approach to health and safety.

Mark Todd, who works for Bellway Homes North London, was given ‘commended’ status for how he has run the housing estate on the former QEII Hospital site.

He was one of 57 managers across the industry to be awarded by the National House Bulding Council at its Safety Awards.

Stephen Ashworth, NHBC health and safety services manager, said: “To win an award at this level clearly shows that Mark has a real desire to keep his colleagues healthy and their workplaces safe.

“We wish Mark the very best of luck in the next stage of the competition.”

The WGC man will now compete for the ‘highly commended’ and national titles, which will be announced next month.

The awards are in their ninth year and reward managers’ health and safety approach.
