A Welwyn Garden City man has been given a suspended sentenced after trespassing at a school with intent to steal.

Dean Harper appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on January 16, where he admitted trespassing at Stanborough School on January 11.

Harper also admitted fraud in that he used someone else’s bank cards to buy himself food in WGC on the same date.

Furthermore, he admitted failing without reasonable excuse to comply with the Sexual Offences Act in that he stayed at an address for more than seven days in WGC on January 9.

Harper, 44, of Moatwood Green, was jailed for 14 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

Magistrates considered the offences to be especially serious given his previous convictions.

He was ordered to pay compensation of £80.

There was no order for costs or a surcharge as magistrates chose to prioritise the compensation.
