A Welwyn Garden City primary school spent a day going back in time to learn about history.

Year 4 pupils at Homerswood Primary School wrote a letter to the Welwyn Hatfield Times to express their excitement.

It read: “We enjoy history every week but it was exciting to do a whole day of it!

“We made lots of things to do with our eras in history and at the end of the day we put it all together in a massive timeline for our parents to see.”

Year 1 focused on modern times, Year 2 looked at Medieval times, Year 3 investigated the Romans, Year 4, ancient Egypt, Year 5, the Aztecs and Year 6, World War 1 and 2.

In the morning pupils at the school made tools, weapons, food, and created collages to show what type of clothes people wore, bringing to life all the different periods in history.

In the afternoon pupils shared their creations and compared time periods.
