Welwyn Garden City’s Focolare Centre for Unity is holding a fundraiser in aid of one of its members who is heading to Syria.
Sylwia Machej, who is a member of the Focolare Community based at 69 Parkway, will travel to the war-torn country to provide support to children and young people.
To cover the cost of travel and her stay, the group will hold a fundraiser named ‘Tastes and Colours of Syria’, which will involve sampling Syrian food and a quiz.
Michal Siewniak, who is involved in organising the event, said: “Together with some of our Syrian friends we want to show you a Syria you might not know.
“Please come along with your family or friends and let’s go on a fantastic journey.”
It will take place at the centre at 7.30pm on July 6. For more information email email@example.com. The voluntary entry cost is £10.
The Focolare Movement is an international organization that promotes the ideals of unity and universal brotherhood.
