A feast of photographic talent is set to be rewarded at a prize-giving event next month.

The contest – arranged by Welwyn Garden City Photography Club (WGCPC) – involves pupils from the town’s primary. secondary, private and special schools submitting photographs they have taken to a judging panel.

About 60 people, including 19 winners from nine schools, are expected to be at the event, which is Campus West on Thursday, July 5 between 2pm and 4pm.

Richard White, chairman of the WGCPC, said: “In partnership with the schools and supported by the Centenary Foundation we are organising a series of annual photographic competitions in 2017, 2018 and 2019, culminating in a roll-up centenary event in 2020.”

Dennis Lewis, who is leading the Centenary Foundation’s joint working group, said it expects more WGC students to submit quality photographs that can be used at the centenary.
