Some residents in Welwyn Garden City were without water for nearly a day due to a burst water main.
Yesterday lunchtime a burst water main on Rectory Road affected many residents’ water supply.
Affinity Water stated online yesterday at 12.55pm: “Our technician has assessed the burst; a repair team have been called and are on their way to carry out the necessary work in order to restore supplies to normal.
“During this time we ask you not to use any electrical appliances that require a water supply, for example washing machines or dishwashers.”
An Affinity Water repair team worked throughout last night to install two overland connections around the burst water main, which have restored pressure to near normal levels.
An Affinity Water spokesperson said: “We have also re-zoned our network to bring in water from other areas to support water pressure in the area.
“Three way traffic lights have been set up on Digswell Hill where we excavated to install the overland connections and we expect these to be removed by tomorrow.
“We are sorry for any disruption to local supplies whilst we installed this temporary solution.”
