Welwyn Garden City pupils set to enjoy free sessions at high ropes course

Four Welwyn Garden City schools have teamed up with Vertigo Adventures as part of a new community schools project sponsored by the council.
Forty pupils will be able to use the high ropes course at Stanborough Park for free after Welwyn Hatfield Council agreed to go halves with the operator.
Ten pupils from Monk’s Walk, Stanborough, The Ridgeway Academy, and Holwell School will go along each weekend until October 28 to tackle the nerve-jangling challenges.
Borough councillor Terry Mitchinson said the council was glad to help, adding: “I’m passionate about supporting and encouraging children to enjoy more physical activity and taking on new challenges such as the ropes course at Stanborough Park – especially those who might have limited budgets.”
Vertigo Adventures’ general manager Victoria Hadnett said the project was designed to help kids enjoy the course who might not normally have the chance.
They will tackle a series of challenges, such as scaling the crazy climb, tackling the high ropes, and flying down the zip-line.
