A newsagent is advertising for a post office counter clerk in Welwyn Garden City.
McColl’s, which also operates the Martin’s newsagents, is advertising a part-time vacancy for a post office counter clerk in Welwyn Garden City.
Welwyn Garden City’s post office closed suddenly in October last year and a spokesman for Post Office Ltd told the Welwyn Hatfield Times last week: “We have an interested retailer which wants to open a post office in an existing store.
“Details about the proposal are currently being finalised and we hope to be able to make an announcement soon.”
The McColl’s advert on the Department for Work and Pensions website reads: “Here at McColl’s we pride ourselves on being UK market leaders in neighbourhood retailing.
“Our continued success depends entirely on the dedication of our store teams.
“We are currently looking to recruit a post office counter clerk.
“As a counter clerk, you will be responsible for the delivery of the first class level of customer service that our customers have come to expect.
“You will also be required to build and develop sales by ensuring that our customers are kept informed of the latest products and services available from the Post Office.”
The role would be 16 hours a week, Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 5.30pm.
Successful candidates will be contacted within two weeks of application, the advert states.
