A Welwyn Garden City police officer has been fined after admitting speeding on duty in an unmarked car.

Jenny Brown, 43, who is based at the county headquarters in Stanborough, was fined £70 by Stevenage magistrates on Thursday, with a £30 victim surcharge and three penalty points.

She was caught exceeding the 40 mph limit on the A602 Hitchin road, Stevenage, on July 11.

A force spokeswoman said: “The speeding offence involved an unmarked police car registered with the HALO team which was being used for operational purposes when the incident occurred.

“As with members of the public, the officer was dealt with at court and accepted the sanctions imposed by magistrates.”
