A new play written by a prize-winning Welwyn Garden City poet about the story of his home town will be broadcast on national radio this afternoon.

The City of Tomorrow, a 45-minute drama by Glyn Maxwell, will be heard on BBC Radio 4 at 2.15pm.

Although it is inspired by Maxwell’s upbringing in WGC, it is also influenced by Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas, who was born 100 years ago today.

For more about the connections between the two writers and their plays, see the Welwyn Hatfield Times, out on Wednesday.
