A pilot from Welwyn Garden City has died in a light aircraft that crashed near Stevenage yesterday morning.
Police have not named the pilot, who was in his 70s, but confirmed he was from Welwyn Garden City and his relatives have been informed.
He was alone in the aircraft when it crashed nose-first into a field near Luffenhall, between Stevenage and Buntingford, at about 10am.
The crash has been referred by police to the Air Accident Investigation Board.
