A PCSO from WGC has been jailed today, for leaking confidential information to the press.
Emma Smiter, 26, was jailed for 12 months at Basildon Crown Court this morning (Monday), for perverting the course of justice and misconduct in a public office, after she was found guilty of a series of press leaks.
Snubbing pleas for a suspended sentence, Judge Christopher Mitchell said: “I feel the need for deterrent and the maintenance of public conduct.”
Smiter, formerly Reeves, of Great North Road, WGC, worked as a reporter at the Welwyn Hatfield Times between February 2005 and June 2007.
