A MOTORCYCLIST from Welwyn Garden City has been left with serious injuries after a crash.

The rider, 23, was thrown from his bike yesterday (Tuesday) just after noon after he collided with a blue Nissan Micra. A 19-year-old man was driving the car and the accident happened out of the junction of Smallford Lane on the A414.

Police say the St Albans man pulled out and then the two vehicles collided.

The biker was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, in Paddington, with serious leg injuries, however the Micra’s driver escaped uninjured.

Officers are now appealing for information.

PC Gareth Rees said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the collision to get in contact as soon as possible.

“We believe that there may have been a white lorry or van travelling in the same direction as the motorcycle around the time of the collision.

“We would like to speak to the driver of this lorry as we believe he may have information which could help this inquiry.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Gareth Rees in the Road Policing Unit on 101.
