A Welwyn Garden City man has been charged with repeatedly assaulting and imprisoning an alleged victim on Sunday evening.

Martin McCartney. 30, of Peartree Court was remanded in custody at Hatfield Remand Court on Tuesday, charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of false imprisonment.

According to police, between 10pm and 10,20pm, another 30-year-old man was assaulted in Woodhall Lane, further assaulted in Beechfield Road and Holwell Road and then forcibly taken into an address in Peartree Court where he was again assaulted.

Detective Constable Sonja Townsend said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what is alleged to have occurred.

“If you saw what happened, heard a disturbance at the time of the incident or remember any other detail, however insignificant it may seem, please contact me.”
