Welwyn Garden City garage thefts update

PUBLISHED: 14:54 05 November 2015

A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with thefts from garages in Welwyn Garden City.

The man, 28, and woman, 23, both from Welwyn Garden City, were arrested after police were called by two members of the public in Blythway and Rosedale.

It is suspected that eight garages on the two roads were broken into, and officers are asking residents to check their garages and contact them via 101 if they believe they are a victim.

Chief inspector for Welwyn Hatfield, Adam Willmot, said: “One of the people who called police was a member of neighbourhood watch, and we are extremely grateful to both people for calling police immediately, as it enabled us to take swift action and make arrests.

“We are extremely supportive of Neighbourhood Watch in Welwyn Hatfield. It is invaluable having members actively working to help us achieve our aims by looking out for and reporting suspicious activity. I would urge anyone who is not already signed up to do so.”
