A TRAUMATISED driver of a car carrying footballers has spoken of the horror of seeing her teammates being cut out of her vehicle.

Sheree Oliver, captain of WGC Ladies football team, was one of five players injured in a collision with another car at the junction of Bessemer Road and Bridge Road East in WGC last Friday.

She told the WHT how the women had been travelling back from training when the smash occurred and recounted the chaos that ensued.

The 28-year-old, who suffered back injuries in the crash, said: "It was crazy.

"Everyone was really shaken up and one of the girls was complaining she couldn't feel her legs.

"It was all a big shock.

"The firefighters then got the cutting equipment out and cut the top off the car.

"About 20 people from the club came down to see if we were all right and we are hoping that this will mean that we will now have a good season."

She appealed to local businesses based on the junction for CCTV footage that may identify what happened.

Her red Seat Ibiza was in collision with a yellow Renault Clio just before 10pm.

She said: "The damage comes to more than the car is worth and I really want to find out what happened."
