Welwyn Garden City anglers raised hundreds of pounds for good causes with their charity carp match.
They fished over the course of a July weekend from 8pm on Friday through to 1.30pm on Sunday at Stanborough Lakes.
Eighteen pairs fished, raising £1,000 for the Herts Boat Rescue fund, see the picture of Russell Hogg presenting a cheque to Alex Tonge from the charity.
There was also a raffle, which raised £400 for the England Disabled Angling Team who are self-funded and recently won a bronze medal in Croatia.
Head coach John Weeden was presented with the cash by Russell Hogg.
First and second prizes were trips to France and these were donated by Paul Ward of Angle lakes and Steve Wells of Le Cheminel Lake.
Prizes went down to 10th place.
Gerald Esmond, who manages Stanborough Lakes Fishery, told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Over 1,000lb of carp was caught in very trying weather conditions so a big well done to all that fished the match.
“A massive thanks must also go to all the staff at Gll/Better for their help in making this a huge success.
“A special thanks also to Jamie Smith and his father who verified all the fish caught, as well as Oakwood Angling who supported the event.”
First place in the competition went to James Coffey and Liam Weller with a total of 281lb 6oz.
Mr Esmond said: “Very well done lads.”
Joe Lovell and Brad Greening scooped second place with 142lb 1oz from pegs 16-17.
Their achievement was described as “a fantastic effort” be Mr Esmond.
In third place were Ben Whitman and Mike Litton with 105lb 10oz from pegs 54-55.
The largest fish caught over the weekend was a common carp of over 24Ib.
It was reeled in by James Coffey.
Welwyn Garden City Angling Club chairman Max Richardson presented the prizes and also fished the match himself.
•In a message to the public, Mr Esmond would like to make people aware of the risks posed when fish are released into the lakes.
He said: “Please could people not put Koi Carp from their ponds into any lakes as Koi Carp carry certain diseases that can kill normal lake carp.”
