WGC firefighters are hoping a hard-hitting campaign will make people think twice about using their phones at the wheel.

Crews have created a mock-up of a car crash into a tree. They have then cut the car open as they would have done had they had to rescue someone.

Blue crew commander Simon Dredge said: “It’s totally staged. It’s a car we have adapted for a dramatic approach to warning people of the consequences of texting. We have done an extraction technique, which is one of the skills we have to remove the side off the vehicle.”
