RESIDENTS are being invited to a WGC church’s first ever fete to help with funding.
The St Francis of Assisi Church, on Church Road, will be the venue for all the traditional fun and games on Saturday, as well as a special auction of promises, a choral concert and a barbeque.
Ed Giberti, organiser of the day which runs from 2pm to 7pm, said: “There are massive fetes around this area like at Lemsford, but we thought it’s about time WGC had its own huge event.”
Highlights of the day are set to include the opportunity to meet members of the WGC fire brigade, as well a series of fun and games laid on from a bouncy castle to tombolas.
Additionally there will be a host of stalls offering crafts, books, plants, jewellery and refreshments.
Before the evening’s entertainment, which includes a performance by St Francis Choir and a barbeque, there will be an ‘auction of promises’.
The auction so far includes chances to win holiday accommodation, a dinner party meal, gardening, computing set-up or assistance, car valeting, swimming, golf or fitness club lessons, an introduction in to a foreign language, moving furniture or home, lifts to hospitals, airports or rail stations, a food hamper for two, cake baking for special events, music lessons, painting or decorating, babysitting and tickets to a West End show.
Tickets for the concert and barbecue are 8 for adults, 7 for concessions and 4 for under 14s.
