The family given a home extension by the DIY SOS team told the Welwyn Hatfield Times of their gratitude to the many tradespeople and suppliers who helped the project.

Sascha and Andrew Koutrouza spent nine days in Chrishall, Essex, while their four-bedroom house was given a new rear extension.

Andrew, a 34-year-old accountant, said: “It is a humbling experience. How can we possibly deserve all this help from all these big-hearted, kind, and talented people?

“This has changed our world.”

Sacha, 36, who works part-time as a midwife, said: “I could not believe it. The designer did it so right. She read my mind.

“It is perfect for us and our family. It is so clever.”
