The Welwyn Garden City east side footbridge from Broadwater Road has been closed for repairs.
The bridge has reportedly been closed since 7pm last night.
A spokesman for Great Northern told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that a member of the public reported a crack in the stairs of the bridge and it has been closed for repairs as Network Rail deemed it unsafe.
A spokesman for Great Northern said: “The bridge is owned and managed by Network Rail. They had to repair the bridge for the safety of our passengers.
“We want to help and warn our passengers as much as we can and will be putting out alerts on Twitter.”
