Welwyn Garden City Male Choir is encouraging residents to attend its annual Special Concert in the town.

It will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 28, at the Church of Our Lady Queen of Apostles in WGC’s Woodhall Lane.

Tickets are £10 at the door and free for children under 16.

As well as enjoying a selection of songs – ranging from old favourites to new arrangements – visitors will be treated to wine, a free buffet and soft drinks afterwards.

For more information email hugh.smith@ntlworld.com or call 07785 220612.

A spokesman said: “Welwyn Garden City Male Voice Choir was founded in 1935 by expatriate miners, mainly from South Wales, who had moved to our area for work.

“The choir, about 35-strong at this time, sings a varied mix of songs including spirituals, songs from the shows, some 20th century pieces and a handful of songs in Welsh, maintaining a link back to the choir’s origins.

“Almost all of our dozen or so concerts each year are for the benefit of local good causes.”
