Welwyn Garden City Male Voice Choir has celebrated 80 years of singing.

The choir’s first concert was given in WGC on November 24 1935.

To mark its eightieth anniversary, a sell-out audience was treated to a Musical Spectacular, headlined by the choir, at the Hawthorne Theatre, Campus West, WGC, on Tuesday, November 14.

The choir “sang superbly under the direction of conductor Les Rayner, with expert piano accompaniment from Mary Anstey”, a choir spokesman said.

The spokesman added: “The choir were joined on stage by the superb Codicote Primary School choir, led by Wendy Sellers.”
