A Welwyn Garden City pre-school is trying to raise £10,000 to create a "beautiful" new play area for the children due to its current garden being in "urgent need of a facelift".
Attimore Barn Pre-School, in Welwyn Garden City, has created a Just Giving page in a bid to raise the money.
The pre-school has currently raised just over £1,650.
A large sum of £1,500 was raised at its Summer Festival, and stall holders Tut Tut, A&T Candles and Candy Floss raised £50, Arti’s stall and Khorra baby wear stall also raised £15 each.
The Panshanger based pre-school, which looks after two to four years old, stated on its Just Giving Page: “The garden is in urgent need of a facelift and current pre-school funding means we need to ask for help from the wider community.
“We have been fortunate enough for a friend of the school to design us a beautiful space in which the children can play and explore nature.
“If we reach our fundraising target, the garden will offer children an engaging and fascinating place to play for years to come.
“Not all of our children have access to a garden of their own, so this space will be extra special for them.”
The garden plans have been designed to cater to children from a wide range of circumstances, including those with sensory and special educational needs.
There will be areas for the children to explore nature and watch mini-beasts in action, a specially designed “barefoot sensory path” so children can feel the different textures of nature beneath their feet, a safe area for children to sit and read, a climbing frame and slide, and teepees and benches for moments of quiet, and to develop friendships.”
