Hertfordshire County Council is upgrading street lighting on roads and footpaths to LED lights in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield.
The work, which starts in Welwyn Hatfield in October 2016 to November 2016 for LEDs (light emitting diodes) not only uses much less energy, but also emit less CO2 than conventional lamps.
The LED lights allow light levels to be reduced between 11pm and 6am to make them even more economical, and increased if more light is needed, for example in the event of an accident.
Terry Douris, cabinet member for highways for Hertfordshire County Council, said: “During the course of the works in East Herts, we aim to keep disruption to a minimum, and we’d like to thank you for your patience if you do encounter delays to your journey.”
