Welwyn Garden City accountant is on top of the world

An accountancy wizard from Welwyn Garden City achieved the highest marks on the planet in her professional exams.

Lauren Ames, 27, achieved stellar grades in the latest Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) exams.

Lauren, a project controller at Airbus Defence and Space (formerly Astrium) in Stevenage, came top in the world in the latest CIMA exams that were held in November.

Lauren achieved the feat in the Performance Strategy exam, with a score of 85 per cent, beating the nearly 5,000 other students registered for the exam around the 
globe.

Lauren lives and grew up in Welwyn Garden City and attended Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School, in Hatfield.

On her success, she said: “I’ve always got my books out and, although it has been a lot of hard work to get to where I am, I am almost there.”

“The time, effort and sacrifices that I have made to complete the qualification will all be worth it.”
